Back to Questions
Is this service government funded?
The vast majority of KIND's funding comes from private foundations, individual donors, and special events. Also, many of the dentists and other professionals volunteer their time to provide services to our patients. KIND receives a Community Services Block Grant to pay dental salaries for some days in the Jefferson County clinic, and the agency also has government contracts to provide dental services to HeadStart children, but again, most of our funding is private.
Back to Questions
How do I pay for these services?
Families are asked to pay $20 per appointment, plus 10 percent of the value of services provided. For a treatment valued at $150, a family would be asked to pay the $20 appointment fee, plus $15 for the family's share of the value of services. If a family cannot pay the appointment fee or their share of the value of services, KIND will work out a payment program.

Can I make payments?
Yes. Families can work out a payment schedule with the billing coordinator at your child’s clinic. Remember: KIND accepts children up to age 18 who do not have dental insurance and whose families' are considered low-income by Federal Poverty Level and KIND percentage guidelines. KIND also accepts children with Medicaid and CHP+.

How long will KIND see my kids?
As long as they remain eligible, we will see children until they turn 18 years of age.
Back to Questions
Are these "real" dentists?
KIND's dentists are all professionally licensed by the State of Colorado. In fact, many of our dentists are volunteers from the local community, taking time off from their private practices to treat KIND children.
Back to Questions
What kind of dental care is provided?
KIND offers a high quality standard of care including all the state-of-the-art restorative materials and dental education to parents. KIND also offers three specialty referral treatment plans (on a case-by-case eligibility): orthodontics, endodontics and oral surgery. These three specialty treatment plans are separate from the KIND clinics and the eligibility process is determined once the child is first considered eligible for KIND clinic services. Unfortunately due to limited resources KIND is not able to help every child needing these specialty services. We strongly encourage parents with children needing such services to call KIND to find out more information and/or apply for eligibility.
