Making A Difference
KIND’s volunteers are at the heart of what we do. We value and appreciate our volunteers
and the worthwhile services they provide to thousands of children each year.
Volunteer Spotlight
Each month, we recognize a special volunteer who has generously donated their time and
services to KIND. This month, we honor:
Dr. Nancy Simons
A new volunteer opportunity in the KIND organization is our effort to
invite dentists to come to one of our facilities and provide services
to our clients. This opening provides the chance for a dentist to
provide charitable services to needy children along with their staff.
It is proving to be a wonderful teambuilding experience and can double
the number of children to be treated in one day!
Dr. Nancy Simons took this opportunity to bring her staff, Rebecca
Nuanes and Ericka Womack, to our Commerce City facility and spent the
day seeing our clients. It was a new volunteer experience for Dr.
Simons as she has previously volunteered to see many of our clients in
her Pediatric practice within the Cody Dental Group.
Dr. Simons completed a General Practice Residency at University
Hospital in Denver and a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at The
Children’s Hospital in Denver. She is a Past President of the
Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and has been practicing
Pediatric Dentistry at the Cody Dental Group since 1994. This year
marks the Cody Dental Groups 60th Anniversary. It is their goal to
donate $60,000 worth of services to programs that help children.
The efforts of KIND have been supported by Dr. Simons and her staff in
many ways and for many years. She feels that giving back to her
community is important and supports the efforts to address the needs
of the less fortunate. As Dr. Simons noted, “Just think what could be
done if every dentist donated one day a year! Just think what you
could do!”
